Presented by: Bruce Baker
Bruce Baker has taught more than 500 workshops over the past 20 years and has proven to have great insight into the future of small retail, small towns, small minds and big stakes, in the complicated and often frustrating dance with "Big Box" retailers. His casual, humorous and. straightforward style has made him a favorite as a speaker. He has worked for Small Business Development Centers across the United States from N.H to Oregon and has been a speaker for the Vermont Main Street Conference, and the Vermont Tourism Industry Conference. He was a featured speaker at the Association of Small Business Development Centers Annual Conference in Nashville (2002) San Diego (2003) and Denver (2007). Bruce feels that the secret to staying in business in these economic times are active sales, exemplary customer service and dynamic merchandising. Bruce has a "change or die" approach for the survival of small retailers -- a few simple changes can result in big dividends. He owned Middlebury Jewelry and Design for 17 years (he sold this store in the fall in order to devote more time to his consulting schedule) Bruce and his wife, Nancie Dunn have owned Sweet Cecily (a gift and lifestyle shop) in Middlebury, since 1987.
